The HTC Evo 4G has been making news in tech world for its rich multimedia features and the launch is obviously much anticipated by many. Sprint is set to offer the HTC Evo 4G phone starting from June 4, 2010 along with their 3G and 4G services.
The device is attributed with a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and offers simultaneous voice and data capability in 4G and Wi-Fi coverage areas. It is equipped with an 8 MP AF camera with HD-capable camcorder and a front facing 1.3 MP camera. The pre-loaded Qik application is a new video chat service that allows for interactive, conversational and real-time sharing between mobile gizmos or from mobile-to-desktop PCs.
“HTC Evo 4G is a fantastic 3G device, but when you use it in our growing 4G coverage area, it becomes a multimedia powerhouse. The Evo 4G experience is much like going from TV to HDTV. But Evo has more than just an impressive list of features – it is also fun to use with remarkable gaming, video and web-browsing capabilities,” remarked Dan Hesse, Sprint CEO.
This handset runs the Android 2.1 mobile OS and accommodates Google Goggles. Its display measure 4.3” and a kickstand integrated into the back provides for video watching convenience on-the-fly. Other mentioned features encompass Adobe Flash technology, an HDMI terminal that enables connectivity to an HDTV, pinch-to-zoom gesture support and in-built mobile hotspot functionality.
Users may turn the phone into a mobile hotspot that can host up to eight Wi-Fi-enabled devices with an optional add-on price. The 4G or 3G service on Sprint’s 3G network can be availed of at $29.99 (approx. Rs.1,351) a month. Sprint’s Everything Data plans start at $69.99 (approx. Rs.3,153) per month, with the Premium Data add-on tagged at $10 (approx. Rs.450) a month.
The HTC Evo 4G which is already up for pre-ordering, will be sold through all Sprint retail channels, RadioShack, Wal-Mart and Best Buy for $199.99 (approx. Rs.9,011) on a two-year customer service agreement.
