It looks like a lot of people have switched preferences to touchscreen handsets judging by the popularity of such devices. Samsung has revealed plans to launch the Samsung Champ touchscreen phone.
The phone flaunts a 2.4” QVGA 262K TFT LCD 240 x 320 full touch display. The main screen displays a 3 x 3 widget menu format that enables users to navigate through various options for clock, calendar, shortcuts and My Buddies. The phone is fitted with a 1.3 MP camera and features stereo FM radio. The dimensions of the device are 96.3 mm x 53.8 mm x 12.97 mm and it weighs 80 g.
The phone allows its users to download Samsung Apps and also supports Java based video games. It has dual speakers and 3D sound technology. This device is powered by a 1000 mAh battery that offers about 722 minutes of talk time and approximately 666 hours of standby time. The Champ also has Bluetooth 2.1 and USB v2.0 for faster transfer of data. It comes with 30 MB of internal memory and accommodates microSD memory that can be expanded by up to 8GB.
A 3.5 mm audio jack and a travel adapter are also provided with the phone. The device supports GSM, EDGE Rx (850/900/1800/1900) networks. It is extended with additional features like TouchWiz Lite, an embedded stylus pen and SNS link along with image editor, fake call, mobile tracker and SOS message facility. The handset is available in four colors, namely, deep black, espresso brown, sweet pink or chic white.
The price of the Samsung Champ has not yet been revealed. The phone is expected to be launched in June this year across Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, Asia and Europe.
